Bracelet Sizing
To measure for a bracelet, wrap a flexible tape measure around your wrist bone. Then, add ¾” to 1” to that measurement to determine your bracelet size. Generally, 7” is considered a standard women’s size and 8” is considered a standard men’s size.
Another way to get an ideal fit is to measure the length of a bracelet you own. For bracelets that are to be slipped over the hand, measure the widest part of your hand to ensure the bracelet will fit over it.
Keep in mind that different bracelet styles tend to fit differently depending upon the clasp and materials used. Bracelets with adjustable clasps are usually one size fits all. Those with large beads or stones have less room for your wrist. Also, bracelets with links can usually be shortened by removing one or more links.
Necklace Sizing
The length of a necklace or chain you buy depends upon a number of factors, including what you will be wearing with it and your neck size.
To measure your neck, wrap a flexible tape measure around the base of your neck. This is the same measurement used for collar sizes in men’s shirts. A good rule of thumb is to buy a necklace or chain a minimum of two sizes up from your neck measurement.
Women’s necklace lengths are more dependent upon the style than neck measurement. Knowing your basic neck measurement, though, will help you decide what length will work best with your outfit and create the look you are after.
Standard Men’s Chain Lengths
Generally, 20” chains work best for men, but it’s always ideal to start with an accurate measurement. Usually longer chains are desirable when a pendant, cross or medallion will be worn on the chain.
Ring Sizing
Print out the band below and wrap it around your finger to measure its ring size. When the band can slip over the knuckle, the arrow will be pointing to the correct size for that finger. If you prefer, go to your local jeweler to have your finger sized.
If you are buying a ring for someone else, have a jeweler measure a ring he or she owns. To keep it a surprise, try making an imprint of a ring he or she owns on a bar of soap and use the ring size band or bring it to your jeweler to be measured.
Note that those who live in warmer climates and those who are athletic may want a slightly larger size to accommodate finger swelling.
Ring sizes also vary depending on where you are in the world, so to make it a little easier we have put together this general chart for sizing convenience.
